Properties and characteristics

3-chloropropyl is a colorless flammable liquid, almost insoluble in water and glycerin, but can be mixed with ethanol, ether, ethylene glycol,Benzene, ethyl acetate, and carbon tetrachloride miscible. It is tear-jerking and irritating to the skin.

Uses

It is used in the manufacture of medicinal eutonic, soil revaporizer, etc. It is also a modifier of engineering plastics, and its trisodium salt is an excellent heat stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride. Its esters are also important additives for polymers.
